CREATIVE & PERFORMING ARTS WORKSHOPS
Many workshops are offered throughout the year by DoDDS. Click here for a brochure. In some cases, any interested student may participate in art, music, and drama workshops. In other cases, students are selected on the basis of talent. Further information may be obtained from art, music, and drama teachers. Every year DoDDS-E sponsors a week long Creative Connections program and students apply through their art, music or drama teacher.
HOMEWORK CLUB
PUBLICATIONS
Interested students are encouraged to join the yearbook staff. The yearbook, The Friulian, is published yearly. .
LEADERSHIP
Several leadership institutes are offered throughout the year for recommended class and club leaders. Elected students serve as student council class officers. Other students can join student council committees. Aviano student regularly attend the International Leadership Institute and the US Senate.
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
The National Honor Society, sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals, recognizes and fosters academic achievement while developing other characteristics essential to citizens of a democracy. Through chapter service activities, members maintain and extend the qualities that were the basis of their induction. Students must be second semester sophomores with a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher are eligible to be considered for membership. Membership is both an honor and a continual obligation.
MUSIC
The Instrumental and Choral Music Department offers the following extra-curricular ensembles and activities throughout the school year: the DoDDS-Europe Honors Music Festival; the DoDDS-Europe Jazz Festival; and the Aviano Community Band; recitals; and concerts.
DRAMA
Each year the drama department presents several plays performed for the community. Plays vary in content and scope dependent on the students involved. In addition, every other year DoDDS-E sponsors the Drama Festival. Students try out for the school team and then compete at the European Drama Festival.
JUNIOR RESERVE OFFICER TRAINING CORPS (JROTC)
The JROTC program teaches leadership skills and the basics of military science. JROTC is a curricular program further enhanced by extra-curricular activities to include Color Guard, Drill Team, summer camp, and study trips.

**After school athletics for middle school and elementary school age students are the responsibility of Youth Services - not DoDDS-E. DoDDS-E does not have authority nor does it receive funding to initiate such services.
